Walking in the city of Sydney feels like a vacation already. Fabulous sunshine. Comforting harbor breeze. Relaxing city vibe. No wonder the city has been constantly voted one of the most livable and beautiful cities in the world. The city is so well-developed yet it is very close to nature – Sydney’s city center is merely 20-minute away from the Bondi Beach and an hour away from the Blue Mountains. So here, I am sharing a few “Snapshots” of the city that visitor could do during their stay in town.
It is not uncommon for a city to have wall paintings or graffiti on buildings. But when I heard Tainan has a street for it, I immediately put this on my agenda. I am talking about the ‘Haianlu’ Art Street. Haianlu Art Street is a renovated art avenue in Tainan with wall paintings and bustle nightlife.
It was not until we saw waves and waves of party-goers all dressed up and ready in Baixa that we realized it was Friday night! Looking for food, wherever someplace is packed with diners, it’s got to be… good.
I heard a lot of “compact”, “stylish”, “cultured” when people are talking about Helsinki. Still, it seemed challenging to visit all museums on the list within 48 hours. Here are my recommendations of the 7 museums that I saw and it sort of explained how the “compact”, “stylish” and “culture” keywords are translated into the Finnish lives.
Well, I went to Tallinn just because it was a detour from the nearby Helsinki, and it was nice to add one more country in my “been-to” country list.
Estonia – the “former Soviet” country was actually something more than dull and grey. The city has a legacy from the Russian culture. Anyway, does it worth going? I would say based on the following two reasons…
…Walking on the shopping street in the city center, there were satin shops, vintage toy stores, street vendors, and ice-cream parlors serving desserts with a chairlift shaped waffles and a baby umbrella – everything looks like Hong Kong in the 70s, a setting of a Wong Kar Wai movie – ‘in the mood of love’….
Interest spots in the city area are probably the art and history museums in town centre. The Heard Museum exhibits Native American’s art and culture, and illustrates the impact of their integration with the new colonists.
A day trip in Düsseldorf and Cologne, Germany – admire the mordern architecture in Düsseldorf , and the most visited German landmark – Cologne Cathedral, is only a half hour away.
